What is IPv6?
IPv6 is the next generation Internet Protocol (IP) standard designed to eventually replace the IPv4 protocol still used by many Internet services today.
The size and format of IPv6 addresses expands addressing capabilities.
IPv6 address size is 128 bits. The preferred IPv6 address representation is: [x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x], where each x is the hexadecimal value of eight 16-bit fragments of the address. IPv6 addresses range from [0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000] to [ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff].
In addition to this preferred format, IPv6 addresses can be specified in two other abbreviated formats:
1. Omit leading zeros
Specify an IPv6 address by omitting leading zeros. For example, the IPv6 address [1050:0000:0000:0000:0005:0600:300c:326b] can be written as [1050:0:0:0:5:600:300c:326b].
2. Double colon
Use double colons (::) instead of a series of zeros to specify an IPv6 address. For example, the IPv6 address [ff06:0:0:0:0:0:0:c3] can be written as [ff06::c3]. The double colon can only be used once in an IP address.
What can IPv6 online testing tools do?
The IPv6 online testing tool is an IP protocol detection tool used to test whether a website server supports the IPv6 protocol. In addition, the detection tool also supports querying your local IPv6 address and GeoIP geographical location information.
After entering a domain name or URL to detect, the detection tool issues a DNS lookup request, obtains the response from the DNS server, and analyzes it.
At the same time, the detection tool will also issue an HTTP request, obtain the response from the website server, and analyze the HTTP Header.
When the DNS server and HTTP website server respond successfully at the same time, it means that the currently detected IP/domain name/URL supports the IPv6 protocol standard.
